If this is your first time coming to Hawaii. This is a MUST TRY Iconic Food Tour that you cannot miss! The Famous Kapahulu avenue is right at the end of Waikiki and is loaded with some of Hawaii’s best restaurants. I like to call it the Kapahulu Restaurant Row. In today’s video I take my friend and fellow content creator @Ryan Chang – Financially Fashionable to three of Hawaii’s most famous restaurants, from your delicious and cheap plate lunches at Rainbow Drive In, to your very fresh poke bowls from Ono Seafood, and the famous Malasada at Leonard’s Bakery. This video has you covered.

  1. I tried to go to Rainbow Drive-In when I was in Oahu, but I could never find any parking.

  2. I'll be there for the first time in upcoming August. I'll only be there for a week and want to try as many iconic, Hawaiian foods. What locations should I narrow my visits to for as first-timer? Thanks

  3. Nice to finally see this video haha. I laughed when he said Mahi Tuna. I have never heard of Green River before haha. I grew up eating at Rainbows and was part of the opening of the Kalihi location so it has a special place in my heart.

  4. Hahaha omg I love filet o fish xD I am so excited for my first ever plate lunch!
Omg ono seafood looks so good! Lots of firsts for Ryan did he just land in Hawaii at that time? I love coconut juice!

  5. Charles, agree I call Kapahulu upper Waikiki. There’s is also Zippys. Miss the old Ono Hawaiian.

  6. Lots of great places to eat in that area, but the parking is tight. Great trio of places to showcase in the same video. 🤙

  7. Charles, I just returned from Oahu and ate at Sweet E's Cafe. Great breakfast place. You should do a vlog of this place.

  8. Watching you from Alabama.Should check out Gulick Delacatessan if their still around, Tamuras in Waipahu is good but go early. You’re a great host, your guest will put on 10 lbs 🤣☺️

  9. My beau loves "Da Ono". Have you been there? I myself have never been anywhere in Hawai'i (as of yet).

  10. Hey Charles, if you have not already been there, maybe you can check out Guava Smoked Meats on Kapahulu. I am from Canada and have it on my list of places to check out next time I am in Honolulu….I would like your opinion.
    Keep making great videos!!!

  11. Glad he liked the poke! "East coast ain't got nothing on this!" I hope so. Poke is Hawaiian after all, and the ahi is super fresh from local waters right here.

  12. Mahi tuna!🤣 Super awesome he loved the Mac salad and breaded chicken at Rainbows! Can tell he is not a food guy, but I give him props for trying everything and liking it.

  13. I’m definitely gonna try Rainbows very soon!!! Heard the burgers are good at Rainbows. 🤙🏼

  14. IMHO, in regards to the shrimp truck’s in Oahu, the best of the best is HONOS SHRIMP TRUCK. Larger size shrimp, perfectly cooked, and amazing side sauce and no lines is why HONOS is my go-to for shrimp on the island. 🤙🏼

  15. Never tried Ono Seafood. In addition to the other two places, I've been to Waiola Shave Ice and Kono's in that area. You're right. There are a lot of good places to eat on Kapahulu.

  16. The filet-o-fish is the only thing I’ll eat at McDs on the rare occasion that I go to one. When I go to Rainbows, I either get the mixed plate w/bbq sauce all over or the roast pig on the days they have it. Never been to Ono’s, but what you ate looks good. Whenever I’m in Kapahulu, I like to go to Sunrise Restaurant for their Okinawan food.

  17. Not rainbows for sure I would say the ono Hawaiian food Charles cut your hair you look all hamma nah!! Who dis dude he looks scared 😱

  18. Ahhhhh we were in the same plaza where ono seafood is but we got the une ice cream across the shop 😋

  19. You didn't say that Hawaii people will ALWAYS use BEST FOODS mayonnaise for the mac salad. McDonald's Hawaii also has a once per year sandwich promotion in late July/August with their McTeri sandwich (1/4 lb burger dipped in teriyaki sauce with mayo, lettuce, tomato, and fresh onions), which is bomb !

  20. This food tour was ICONIC and so satisfying!! I had such an amazing experience in Hawaii and am grateful that I was able to see what the locals eat and do around the island. Thanks for all of the recommendations, touring me around, and of course for sharing all these meals! Will definitely be back soon, mahalo Charles 🤙🤙

  21. How fun to see "Financially Fashionable" Ryan Chang in your video! The food looks amazing as always!

  22. Hopefully he got to check out Pipeline icecream malasadas. Leonard's is nice but too sugary for my taste.
