Mirchi vada, a popular Rajasthani snack or breakfast, are green chilies filled with spicy potatoes, dipped in batter and fried. We went to Chaudhary Namkeen, a family-owned restaurant that has been serving mirchi vada using their secret masala recipe for four generations.

🌶MAKE MIRCHI VADA: Boil potatoes, cool and mash them. Chaudhary Namkeen then adds their secret masala (using ingredients such as dry lemon powder, chilli powder, asafoetida, turmeric and salt) into the mashed potatoes. Grind the lentil and, using water, salt and red chili powder, create the batter. Cut a slit down the center of the chillies, add the mashed potato mixture and coat with freshly ground gram flour batter, allowing them to cook from the inside. Fry. Eat. To cut the saltiness and spice, many people eat mirchi vada with bread.

PRICE: 25 cents/17Rs per piece

ADDRESS: 689, 9th C Rd, Sardarpura, Jodhpur, Rajasthan 342003
OPEN: 12PM – 1:45PM, 7PM – 10:30PM

Jodhpur is the highest consumer of ghee (clarified butter) in India. Rather than a typical onion/tomato-based curry, Jodhpur is known for using dairy products. Gulab jamun are a milk-solid-based sweet, typically eaten as a dessert; however, in Rajasthan, instead of soaking gulab jamun balls in sugar syrup, they cook them in a gravy made from nuts and tomato to create gulab jamun ki sabzi.

🤤MAKE GULAB JAMUN KI SABZI: Combine refined flour, mawa (milk solid) and cumin seeds and roll them into balls. Fry the rolled balls in ghee, then soak them in water for roughly 15 min, until they become soggy. In a wok, add ghee, cumin seeds, hung curd, dessicated coconut, turmeric, garam masala, salt, red chilli powder, mawa and cook.

PRICE: $5/367Rs for thali buffet platter of 31 items; $10-12/800-900Rs per kg, if only gulab jamun ki sabzi

3. SHASTRI CIRCLE MARKET: Shastri Circle Market is an ideal spot to take a break and sample a variety of local foods after a long day of exploring Jodhpur. We tried pani puri and a special chaat.

Pani puri is a wheat puffed crisp filled with a mixture of boiled potatoes, boiled black channa (pulse), salt and red chilli powder. Top off this tasty snack by filling it with flavored water and enjoy!

PRICE: 27 cents/20Rs per plate (8 pieces)

Chaat is a savory snack typically served at roadside tracks from stalls or food carts. The stall where we stopped offers a unique Girlfriend Chaat, known for its intense spice. True love is is put to the test by challenging your partner to eat this insanely spicy snack. It’s a mean test, trust me.

🔥MAKE THE GIRLFRIEND CHAAT: Starting with baked wheat cups, add green chillies, Kashmiri red chilli powder, Rajasthani red chilli powder, black salt, chaat masala, garam masala, gram flour shavings, tamarind chutney, gram flour fried balls of different colors, pressed fried chickpeas, tomato and coriander. Eat and prepare for the heat.

Hey, I’m Sonny! I’m from the US but currently call Vietnam home. I’ve been living in Asia for 10 years and started making food and travel videos to document my experiences. People either enjoyed my undeniable charm or enjoyed watching me eat things like coconut worms, and thus Best Ever Food Review Show came to be.

I travel to different parts of the world, hunting down and documenting the most unique food each country has to offer. If you see any factual food errors in my videos, please feel free to politely let me know in the comments. I’m a huge fan of trying different, interesting foods in each country. My show is from a Western point of view, but more importantly, MY point of view. It is not meant to offend any person or culture.

  7. Just before 03:43 – We are Indians!!! Of course, I was brought up in the church.. You should meet those brought up othewise.. they are ABSOLUTELY phenomenal.. !!

Unfortunately, the church people followed Western recipes for cooking.. which had NOTHING to do with the Bible.. Under the influence of those foods.. well..
Now we know why the British came to India.. THey wanted the spices. …
HOWEVER, instead of braving the hot sun, they could've just gotten the spices alone..
Those of the British left in India.. they use a notebook to shield their face from the sun, just walking to school..!
And in summer, before a/c, they would
    soak a fold-able chair with a canvas-slung-on-it with water,
    sprinkle water on the floor,
turn the fan on full-speed, and
just sit there panting in the heat..
Pets with long-hair (meant for insulation from cold climate..), when found in this tropical heat, ..well, when she was born she was so… so… she was so fluffy. And so … so… I called her "Lady Fluffy"..!
Now, about 3 – 4 years later, having been in this weather, she's not THAT fluffy.. maybe an adaptation…
But she's REALLY tenacious.. is ALWAYS there for her food,
and really likes EVERYTHING.. too much..

  8. Man life is so vibrant and full of energy in India compared to west!
Yes the daily struggle is there, but that’s besides the fact that fun is mainstream!!

  9. It's fucking disgusting when they've spoiled my favourite sweet dish 😭😭💔💔😡

  10. When the said gulab jamun ki sabji ..i understood that jodhpur has a fucking stupid taste for foods.

  11. Harishita and food stealing my heart and dont know why but my eyes cant see the man in this vedio

  12. I'm an Indian and I have barely scratched the surface of Indian cuisines. I want to settle down quickly with a stable job so that I can explore my incredible India.

  13. These are more of snacks than breakfast. Ppl don't eat this oily food and chats in the morning, atleast in south India. This is more of evening snacks for us.

  14. The Man :- i don't know it tastes like spice water to me
The lady:- what are you saying it's sweet water😂😂😂😂

  15. i love hot and spicy food but its also my bane cuz i normaly regret eating it 8-12 hours later when the outher side of the body feels…..lit…. and i promise god that i would never eat hot again…..and 2hours later: "yah, can i have that with extra chilli and spices"…..

  16. That's actually a good idea…having Lassi after such hot street food. Go for salty Lassi!

  17. I frankly can't even imagine Indian food from before chilies and other new world plants were brought over.

  18. Bruh why don't try coming to Lucknow.
I assure you that you would be mind blown
